In our world today, one may observe that the quality of our items: our clothing, our media- it all seems to have decreased in a quality that was almost a given in the past. It feels as though things are not as durable as they once were, fast fashion is well within our culture as they tend to be the only clothes most people can afford, many of the creative media found on youtube today relies on clickbait titles and ample amounts of money given away. Why this is happening is most likely a complex and layered answer, however The Beach Beneath the Street: The Everyday Life and Glorious Times of the Situationist International by McKenzie Wark may allude to part of the explanation. The Beach Beneath the Street: The Everyday Life and Glorious Times of the Situationist International tells the story of the Situationist International, a group of artists and intellects who critiqued modern life in the 50s and 60s under the weight of capitalism. They sought to explore transformation in life through creative play as a revolutionary practice. Wark's exploration of spontaneity and playful creativity used by the Situationist International puts emphasis on the idea that revolution does not always happen through wide scale insurgence, sometimes it is a small act that ripples to create a big change across todays earth.

My article, With(in) Daily Life explores my everyday life as I use a strategy akin to the Situationist International to change the perception of my life. Just as the Situationist International explored the ways that spontaneity, play and lively creativity can spark changes in ones life through perception, I explored the ways performance created momentum in my everyday life. I used the energetic law of attraction and playful imagination to perform that I was already successful in achieving my dreams, and I was living my life then. I found myself behaving more confidently, I was more willing to go outside of my comfort zone and I had more energy throughout the day as I went through it with passion. Revolutionary change in oneself and outside of oneself doesn't necessarily require intense action- sometimes this genuine spark of change can be found within the small acts of joy we allow ourselves and the moment we spontaneously find ourselves in.
